About Banquet-style seating

Banquet-style seating (also called "rounds" in the industry) is a seating arrangement using round tables, each seating 8–12 guests, distributed across the dining floor. This is the standard layout for Indian sit-down wedding dinners and receptions.

Banquet seating reduces venue capacity by 30–40% compared to theatre seating (rows of chairs facing front). A 5,000 sq ft venue holds:

  • Theatre style: 350–400 guests
  • Classroom style (tables + chairs facing front): 200–250
  • Banquet rounds: 180–220
  • Standing reception: 400–500

When checking a venue's "capacity," always ask for the banquet-style capacity, not the theatre capacity which most venues advertise.
